On the southern end of Shikoku is Kochi city and prefecture. Having retained an original southern flair with beautiful and clean markets plus a remarkable castle, Kochi comes complete with a very nice beach. Getting to Kochi is convenient through hourly trains that leave Takamatsu as well as from Okayama. Kochi is well known for the yummy seasoned and seared tuna dish called “katsuo tataki”. Kochi castle is probably the most visited tourist attraction because it still exists in its pre-restoration form. The Sunday street markets are another favorite of many and is around 1 km long. With great shopping arcades, beaches and plenty to see, Kochi welcomes visitors with open arms.
