Mie sits in the southeastern part of Honshu island. The capital of the prefecture is Tsu. Japans holiest Shinto shrine is located in Mie called “Ise Grand Shrine”. Iga Ueno is the birthplace of the Ninja and home to the Iga Ninja museum. Mie is blessed with mild weather and sits spectacular between mountains and the sea. With easy access from Nagoya, Tokyo and Osaka, Mie is visited by tourists throughout the year. About one third of the prefecture is declared as natural park regions and industries such as pearls and spiny lobster and Matsusaka beef are well know in this region. Access to Mie is easy by sea, train and plane and doesn't take long from major cities.
